Letter from the Executive Director

Closing out another extraordinary year at Wonderland, a central theme stands out: Partnership. Wonderland and Hope Rising Clinic served more kids in 2025 than ever before. We could not have done it without the generosity of our supporters, dedication of our staff, and perseverance of the families we serve. Each of these pieces, unique and necessary, work together in often unseen ways to give children impacted by developmental challenges and prenatal substance exposure the chance to thrive.

We gathered with our community throughout the year at Hope Rising Clinic’s 6th anniversary open house, through a virtual discussion with Dr. Julia Bledsoe and Hope Rising Clinic providers, and a special community event in November celebrating families and our shared impact. At each event, we saw people come together to celebrate our mutual accomplishments and to renew their commitment to what’s next, energized by the opportunities ahead.

During Season of Wonder, we called on donors, foundations, and corporate partners to support the Family Care Fund, which ensures cost is not a barrier to families seeking therapy and support. Our community answered, contributing an astounding $372,000 to keep our promise that no child is turned away due to family financial circumstances.

Wonderland’s dedicated Early Support and Hope Rising Clinic teams worked tirelessly in 2025 to serve more families and serve them better. Our ES providers reached a new recurring caseload high of 639 children in December! Hope Rising Clinic served 142 children affected by prenatal substance exposure and their families, with special emphasis on educating caregivers on prenatal substance exposure as a brain-based disability, strengthening their confidence and capacity to support their children.

Select 2025 program highlights include:

  • Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) delivered 11,044 therapy visits that supported early development and strengthened caregivers during the most critical years of growth.
  • Hope Rising Clinic provided 2,021 therapy visits, delivering our specialized clinical care and caregiver education to families from Blaine to Long Beach, and all the way to Spokane.

These outcomes speak to the efficacy of our unique, tailored services, and to the commitment of our parents and caregivers. Wonderland’s providers coach caregivers on strategies to help their child progress, but it is the diligent work of these first — and best — teachers between visits that help children thrive.

Finally, we are thrilled to share that our in-depth prenatal substance exposure training program was successfully launched to 27 providers from around Puget Sound in June 2025 and 63 Wonderland providers in October. This multi-day training experience is designed for early educators supporting children with PSE, emphasizing both clinical understanding and practical, classroom-ready strategies. Our unique prenatal substance exposure curriculum and trainings will have exponential impact across the state and country and is the focus of our work in 2026 because of its potential for true, systemic change.

Here’s to a year ahead of deepening partnerships, fueled by our shared mission and commitment to children and families in our community.

With gratitude,

Mary Kirchoff
