Letter from the Executive Director
It’s during uncertain times, when the world’s priorities may not align with our own, that I lean into the incredible community that surrounds Wonderland and Hope Rising Clinic. This past year, 2024, was a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with a shared purpose—providing vital services to children and families impacted by developmental challenges and prenatal substance exposure (PSE), regardless of ability to pay.
In 2024, we witnessed transformative moments that highlight the power of partnership and perseverance. Season of Wonder was a collective effort, resulting in unlocking an additional $150,000 match from a highly committed anonymous donor. Your generosity deepened our impact, from helping us create and launch HRC’s groundbreaking Caregiver Education Program, to designing curriculum to train clinicians and eventually school district staff across the state in our PSE methods, allowing our unique services to reach thousands more children and families impacted by PSE. You made each milestone possible!
2024 Achievements
- Total number of children served: 1156
Hope Rising Clinic
- 86% of HRC families reported that their relationship with their child had improved
- 89% of HRC children made progress in at least two treatment goals
Early Support Program (birth-to-three)
- 96% of ES children moved closer to same aged peers in at least one area of development
- 91% of ES families reported coping better with issues related to raising their child
Our focus in 2025 is clear: Sustainability and advocacy. The urgency to ensure that every child has access to the care they need to thrive has never been more important or more at risk. Wonderland’s Hope Rising Clinic is committed to providing evidence-based therapies and sharing curriculum that addresses the unique needs of children and their caregivers affected by prenatal substance exposure. Simultaneously, we will continue advocating for systemic changes to create a future where these services are universally accessible across the nation, even the world.
We have strengthened our commitment to the unique needs of caregivers of children with PSE with our paradigm-shifting Caregiver Education Program because families are at the heart of a child’s healing journey. They simply must have the tools, knowledge, and encouragement to create environments where their children can flourish. Healthy families make healthy communities.
In closing, I would be remiss in not sharing that Wonderland and HRC are 70% funded by state and federal contracts, 10% from insurance billing, and 20% from donations and private grants. Now more than ever our critical, time-sensitive services would not be possible without the trust and support of this community. Together, we are responding to immediate needs but also building a legacy of hope and opportunity for generations to come. This year, we invite you–implore you–to deepen your involvement with Wonderland’s mission. Your support is rocket fuel that makes our shared vision a reality.
Thank you for standing with us.
With gratitude and determination,
Mary Kirchoff
